Today marks the second day of March. A month coined Women’s History Month, and a 30 day celebration of the history, culture and contribution Women have made to society.
Woman's History Month derived from a feminist march in the streets of New York City on August 26, 1970 that pushed for equal jobs and education. In 1980 President Jimmy Carter dubbed International Women’s Week an official holiday, but it didn't become a month-long celebration until 1987.
The 2022 theme is “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope. According to the National Women’s History Alliance,
“It's a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic, as well as a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history.”
To further continue the celebration of women, March 8 is International Women’s Day. This year's goal is to create a gender-equal world, and collectively #BreakTheBias. It is about celebrating a woman's success and raising awareness against bias. So we all should choose to 'challenge' to bring the change.
Although healers are the 2022 Women’s Month focus, it doesn’t take away from the millions of other women who are important in their own professions, communities, families, and circles. These women are the teachers, mothers, clerks, doctors, nurses, counselors, chefs, business owners, servers, assistants, entrepreneurs, lawyers, factory workers, manufacturers, scientists and more.
