How Does NMN & NAD+ Influence the Aging Process?

What Is NMN and NAD+?

In scientific terminology, NMN stands for nicotinamide mononucleotide, a molecule naturally occurring in all life forms. At the molecular level, it is a ribonucleotide, a basic structural unit of nucleic acid RNA. Structurally, the molecule comprises a nicotinamide group, a ribose, and a phosphate group (Figure 1). NMN is the direct precursor of the essential molecule nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)  and is considered a key component in increasing NAD+ levels in cells.

NAD+ is an essential coenzyme required for life and cellular functions. Enzymes are catalysts that make biochemical reactions possible. Coenzymes are ‘helper’ molecules that enzymes need to function.

Alright, in layman’s terms, NMN has been shown to boost levels of the molecule NAD+, which plays a crucial role in the aging process. Decreasing NAD+ levels have been linked to age-related conditions, yet increasing NAD+ levels with NMN can improve these ailments.

Scientifically Proven and Doctor Approved

It’s not just lab scientists that are saying that NMN can help slow the aging process, but doctors are ready to support this emerging research to help combat aging. Dr. Marc A. Shuman, MD, NIH-funded Principal Investigator and world-renowned physician of over 30 years, said,

"NMN or nicotinamide mononucleotide is a natural substance in all of our tissues. The preponderance of evidence strongly suggests that it delays or slows the aging of many tissues including the brain and liver of animals and human cells in the laboratory.”

Shuman continues by noting NMN’s effect on the cell's mitochondria plays a critical role in metabolism. He said NMN is important for the formation of NAD+, which boosts survival, energy production, and repair of cells.

“The process of aging relates to a breakdown of NAD+ synthesis in organs and tissues. Restoring NAD+ by supplementation with NMN is likely to have a beneficial effect on aging,” Shuman said.

Dr. Shuman used his expertise and experience in this area and is actively involved in the formulation of Herman Organic NMN products. NMNNMN+ PterostilbeneNMN for Men, and NMN For 40+ are made with 99.7% pure NMN to ensure you’re absorbing the optimal amount and highest quality of NMN for the best results.

Our Herman Organic NMN Formula

Our standard NMN formula focuses on a more generalized formula of NMN that is great for any age. NMN+ Pterostilbene includes 300 mg of NMN with added Pterostilbene that is a premier antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic with properties that lead to improved function of normal cells and inhibition of malignant cells.

As the product name suggests, our NMN for Men is designed for men and includes 100 mg of Ashwagandha and 100 mg of cordyceps. This formulation may help to alleviate stress, regulate homeostasis, and support energy and stamina. NMN For 40+ is formulated with 300 mg of NMN plus 100 mg Ginkgo Biloba Extract to enhance the flow of oxygen and blood to the brain. It also includes 100 mg of Cordyceps for anti-inflammatory benefits and focused energy, intended for those over forty years of age.

Between our four NMN products, scientific studies, and your new insight on NMN, we hope you can feel confident in your own aging process.
